Community

As a responsible corporate citizen, Quickmart has sustained its efforts and commitment towards making a positive impact on the socio-economic well-being of the communities where we operate and the country as a whole.

Our charity works mainly target non-profits, schools, hospitals and other similar organizations that solve social challenges.

School Feeding Programme

Given the drought situation that has devasted some parts of the country, atop the dire times brought to pass by the COVID pandemic, many Kenyan families have had to make do with little to no food each passing day. This situation has had a tremendously negative effect especially among school going children.

During the K.C.P.E examination period, Quickmart staff partnered with like-minded corporate entities as well as stakeholders in the local communities where our operations exist to offer nutritious lunches to public primary school pupils. This endeavor targeted to benefit over 9,000 pupils in select schools around our stores countrywide serving as an effective social safety net for the candidates.

Machakos Level 5 Hospital

The twin store openings in Machakos County early March 2022 were a notable milestone for Quickmart, since we had now reached 50 stores since inception. As part of the events slated to celebrate this milestone, Quickmart staff and partners visited the maternity ward of Machakos Level 5 hospital where we donated assorted foodstuff and personal effects for the mums and their newborns.

Horec

The journey between Quickmart and Hope for Orphans Rescue Centre (HOREC) begun in 2013 soon after we opened the Quickmart Ruai Branch, the first store outside Nakuru Town. Quickmart was the first retailer to allow HOREC to place money donation tins inside its stores. This marked the genesis of a friendship that saw Quickmart make frequent visits to the home to make donations such as foodstuff, toiletries, and other assorted commodities; especially during major holidays e.g. Easter and Christmas.

In 2015, Quickmart introduced HOREC to its gift voucher system.
The gift voucher was to help the orphanage purchase goods over
a consistent period as opposed to the once off donations.

“This was wonderful news to us as we were able to purchase items
as need arises thus reducing wastage and over/under supply of certain items. Quickmart has always ensured to replenish the voucher and this has really helped us in ensuring our orphans have steady supply of items they need.” HOREC.

In 2018 & 2019 HOREC hosted its annual Charity fun Run where Quickmart stepped in as one of the event’s cooperate sponsors.
The charity run successfully raised funds for Healthcare for the HOREC children.

In 2020, at the height of the COVID pandemic, HOREC faced a big challenge as people retreated back to their homes and the government banned any forms of gatherings. Quickmart stepped in by bringing on board their partners and supplies and also gifted the home an extra voucher to help feed the children.

Ebenezer Children’s Home

Since 2010, Quickmart has sustained its CSR efforts in enabling children from the Ebenezer Children Home attain formal education by paying their school fees. Quickmart also consistently donates clothes and foodstuff to the children’s home and affords them different forms of healthcare. You must have seen strategically placed donation tins for Ebenezer inside Quickmart stores countrywide. The money donated by well-wishers shopping at Quickmart branches enables the home to pay salaries, pay for amenities such as electricity and water and meet other expenses.

“The good deeds you have played on us as Ebenezer family cannot
be completed in small script with a mere writing. We are also so much grateful for your tirelessly support for the children at large. May the almighty God bless you so much and meet your heart desires. You have special place in our hearts and you also mean
a lot to us.

Above all I thank you for the courtesy and love you have for our children. I lack words to express my appreciation but let the almighty God bless you all.
Thank you.” Virginia.G. Kiarie, Director Ebenezer Children’s Home.
